MARINE CORP. GRADUATION IN SAN DIEGO

This post is long overdue, two months to be exact. In February, my younger brother Jonny graduated from the Marine Corp in San Diego. Kevin and I hitched a ride with my family. We left on a Tuesday night and spent the night Buffalo Bill's in Primm Valley. We decided to split the trip in half rather than do a straight shot. We had a few hours to kill so we drove down the coast on our way to San Diego. We stopped in Oceanside and took a walk along the beach. It is so beautiful in this area.

Family Day was on Thursday. So we headed extra early to the base to make sure we got in first. Once we were inside we saw Jonny's platoon practicing for graduation. We got to explore the base and spend the afternoon with him. It was only three months, but it felt like so long. It was a perfect day.

We did the same thing on Friday. We got to the gate at 5:30am. We waited until they opened the gates at 6am and then waited until noon for the graduation ceremony to start. It was so nice to see so many marines and all their families. Graduation took place on the parade deck. The second the ceremony ended everyone ran from the stands to the deck. Then everyone rushed to the barracks to get their stuff to leave.

We ended our trip with a graduation lunch at BJ's, a little sight seeing, and Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles in Anaheim.
